Photo Requirements for Online Indian Visa

Online India Visa Application allows the Applicant to upload a digital photograph of self to complete the online visa application. The digital photograph to be uploaded along with the Visa application should meet the following requirements:

• Size – 10KB to 1MB maximum
• Format – JPEG
• Standard Measurements – 2 inch X 2 inch
• Photo should present Full face, front view, eyes open
• Center head within frame and present full head from top of hair to bottom of chin
• Background should be plain light colored or white background
• No shadows on the face or on the background
• Without borders

Indian Visa Photo Requirements

Photo Requirements: Two recent 2 x 2 passport type photographs, in color, front view and with a plain/light background.
Chicago, San Francisco and Washington DC jurisdictions: no glasses may be worn in these photos; photos should not be stapled to the application.

For Consulate General of India, Chicago, you will need 2x2 inch passport photos:

Photographs:Four recent colour photographs of 2” x 2” against white background showing full frontal view of face are required. Out of these one photograph is to be pasted (do not staple this photo) on the first page of the application in the space provided for the purpose. Photographs with other than white background will not be accepted.

For Consulate General of India, New York, you will need 3 2x2 inch passport photos:

Full UPPER HALF BODY view with all facial features clearly visible.

Face should neither be too bright nor too dark

If wearing spectacles – reflection of light from the glasses should not be visible.

White or near-white background with no visible shadow on the face or background.

Do not wear white/ light colored shirt as it blends with light background.

Light reflection from hair should not be visible.
